Ted Kottcamp called the meeting to order at 7:30 AM
Meeting agenda/topics of discussion included:
1. Presentation & Discussion with MVPC
a. Jerrard Whitten presented an overview of the new award winning “Merrimack Valley Means Business” website (www.mvmb.biz) which includes demographic information related to
Georgetown. The objective for the EDC was to evaluate potential opportunities to enhance the Georgetown section of their website to include updated business information, available commercial properties, mapping, etc. According to Jerrard, the estimated costs to map a region within the Merrimack Valley ranges between $5,000~$10,000; however, much of the Georgetown project is already complete.
b. Mike Parquette provided an update of the MVPC agreement to support the expedited permitting process for the 43D priority development sites. Their scope of services included 1) a review and revision of the permitting procedures, and 2) drafting of a 43D economic development strategy, at a total cost of $23,250 (for the period of January 1,
2010-December 31, 2011). According to Mike, a baseline traffic analysis of the 43D site is already complete.
c. Nick added that the final State vote for the 43D application is December 6 and the “go-live” date is January 1, 2010.
d. Possible action items for the EDC to consider include:
i. Review of available properties to be added to the MVMB website
ii. Direct local businesses to the website & creation of a user profile
iii. Link the Georgetown & MVMB sites
iv. Participate in the “visioning” process & strategic planning of the 43D sites
2. Wastewater treatment in downtown village
a. Jim briefly requested to continue discussions of wastewater treatment in the village center at the next EDC meeting. Jim already had conversations with possible consultants and business owners through his activities with the Georgetown Alliance. The committee agreed to continue the discussion and will meet with interested parties at the next EDC
meeting.
3. Other Committee Issues
a. The committee agreed to move approval of the October 14, 2009 meeting minutes to the next scheduled meeting.
b. The committee agreed to move discussion of rescheduling meetings with Town healthcare practitioners to a future date.
4. Next Meeting: Thursday, December 17, 7:30 am (3rd flr); posted by Ted Kottcamp
MOTION: Ted Kottcamp motioned to adjourn at 8:45 AM. Motion carried.
Respectfully Submitted
